Nasce a Kirriemuir (Angus, Scozia, Gran Bretagna) il 9 maggio 1860.Scrive lo spettacolo teatrale "Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up" (Peter Pan, il ragazzo che non voleva crescere) che viene rappresentato per la prima volta il 27 dicembre 1904. La versione in romanzo "Peter and Wendy" ("Peter Pan") viene pubblicata nel 1911.
